U.S. Seizure of Oil Tanker to Threaten Venezuela, Cuba and Iran Is an Act of War

The U.S. seizure December 10 of a large oil tanker, departing from Venezuela en route to Cuba, already in international waters, is an act of war. Presenting the usual pretext about “terrorism,” U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi said the U.S. executed a seizure warrant because the tanker was “used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran” and because of “its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations.” The imperialist media and accomplices then promoted this disinformation about Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran in a desperate attempt to make the seizure appear legal.

U.S. sanctions against Venezuela, Cuba and Iran are themselves illegal, arbitrary acts of war. They are not unlike the current killings of more than 80 people in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific, done contrary to the facts and without proof of any threat, simply U.S. designation as “terrorist.” Since former President George W. Bush declared “you are with us or with the terrorists,” the U.S. has declared states, various organizations, and individuals as “terrorists,” subject to sanctions and execution. So too, President Obama’s “kill-list” declared the U.S. to be judge, jury and executioner and all hitherto known international rule of law unenforceable in the face of U.S. police powers. Trump is now using these police powers in a manner designed to make extreme violence, such as already witnessed by its Zionist machine in Gaza, unassailable. But this is failing as the Palestinians, world public opinion and the condemnation by many countries shows. [More]
