Poland’s Intentions in Western Ukraine
Russian intelligence reports indicate the U.S. is in discussion with Poland about Polish occupation of western Ukraine during the present conflict, possibly leading to the annexation of at least the part of western Ukraine that Poland lays claim to.
According to the chief of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service, Sergey Naryshkin, the operation is designed to be executed without a NATO mandate with only volunteer states taking part. According to the report, Poland has thus far been unable to find any other nation to join its cause.
The Polish government is basing itself on the assumption that entrenching its forces in western Ukraine during the conflict would split the country and Poland would command the territories where NATO peacekeepers are set to be deployed.
