Earth Day 2022
All Out to Humanize the Natural and Social Environment!
On Earth Day April 22, the peoples of the world come together to demand proper attention be paid to Mother Earth and denounce the reality that their concerns are not being met. The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) held this past year in Glasgow, Scotland was a complete disaster. More disinformation than ever poured from the mouths of officials from the United States, Britain, Canada and the European countries representing the global elite in control of those economies. They attempted to give the impression of taking measures to bring climate change under control while in fact increasing the number of damaging pay-the-rich schemes and other self-serving practices, all the while spouting the high ideal of “greening the economy.”
The ruling elite in control are waging wars of aggression and plundering the resources and exploiting the peoples of the world especially in Asia, Oceania, Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean and also in North America and Europe. People are struggling to stay the hand of the elite and hold them to account to overcome the destructive effects of climate change and other problems. Battles are raging to end the pernicious practices of the ruling elite such as fracking, clear cutting, detrimental mining methods, contamination of rivers, lakes and oceans, the privatization of water, fraudulent environmental assessments and dispossession of the rightful holders and stewards of the land.
All over the world the people are organizing to restrict and deprive the monopolies and oligopolies and governments in their service of their ability to pollute, destroy, wage wars, super-exploit, criminalize and deprive the people of their right to a say, and trample on the sovereign rights of Indigenous peoples. The striving for empowerment of working people from all walks of life unites them to become an organized force in defence of the rights of all and Mother Earth.
Stop Paying the Rich!
Uphold the Hereditary Rights of the Indigenous Peoples!
On the occasion of Earth Day 2022, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) states clearly that the natural and social environment cannot be humanized without opposing government pay-the-rich schemes. CPC(M-L) denounces the ruling elite for using green and other buzz-words such as reconciliation as cover to continue their relentless pursuit of profit. Despite their high-sounding proclamations they continue to expropriate Indigenous peoples, trample on their land and attack the thousands of Canadians opposing specific projects such as the Trans Mountain Pipeline and the Coastal GasLink (CGL) pipeline construction.
The criminalizing of the struggles of the people is particularly shameful when done in the name of “national interest” and “creating jobs.” These false associations are meant to ensure the people play no role in determining the outcome of the decisions that affect their lives and Mother Earth. In this way the ruling elite attempt to block the people from sorting out important issues such as climate change, economic development and rectifying the crimes of Canada’s colonial practices, which continue to this day.
No Great Wall exists between developing the economy, ensuring a livelihood for all and humanizing the natural environment and overcoming the great damage colonial injustice and imperialist exploitation have wrought. The economy and people can only thrive when the interests of Mother Earth and the rights of all are defended and colonial practices are negated.
The Indigenous peoples are the stewards and protectors of Turtle Island and holders of sovereign rights to this vast land. The Indigenous peoples have never relinquished their sovereign hereditary rights and bravely continue to defend themselves and Mother Earth from the indignities of colonial pillage and ruin. They and their allies demand a full stop to these practices and reparations for the damage. A modern Canadian economy can only thrive within this overall recognition.
On Earth Day let everyone demand that governments enter into new arrangements that honour the Indigenous peoples’ sovereign rights to their ancestral lands.
The Two Great Pillars of Social Wealth
Mother Earth and the work of working people transforming its bounty into means to live and thrive as human beings are the two pillars of all social wealth. Modern society cannot be built without consciously upholding the dignity of both. Harming Mother Earth and working people, and trampling on the rights of Indigenous peoples lead to the ruin of society.
To uphold the dignity of Mother Earth means to bring social consciousness to the fore within the socialized economy and in political affairs. Activating the human factor/social consciousness to negate the anti-human factor/anti-consciousness is the order of the day. Only if working people themselves have a say and control over the production and distribution of the social product they create through their work can the serious problems facing Mother Earth and our societies be provided with solutions.
Let Us Bring Into Being an Anti-War Government!
A significant and necessary act on Earth Day is to denounce as the biggest polluter in the world the U.S./NATO-led wars of aggression and occupation and the U.S. war industry, which feeds the destruction. Central to upholding the dignity of Mother Earth and the people is to denounce the Canadian ruling elite for deploying the men and women of Canada’s military to participate in the U.S./NATO expansion to encircle, isolate and crush Russia and shamelessly use Ukrainians as cannon fodder in doing so. Earth Day can only be true to itself if it denounces the U.S. wars of aggression and regime change and the hypocrisy and fraud of NATO and UN missions carried out in the name of humanitarian aid and corridors, peace, freedom, democracy and the already discredited “responsibility to protect.”
All governments of the ruling elite regardless of party affiliation have shown in practice that they fully identify with the narrow stance of private interests of the rich and the demands of the war government in the United States and its understudy in Canada. To serve these private interests and in the same breath express concern for the environment is absurd.
Concern for environmental degradation and ruination of Mother Earth must be consciously expanded into a movement to empower the working people, to put them in the forefront of all economic, political and social decision-making. Only in this way can a firm step be taken to humanize the social and natural environment.
All Out to Humanize the Natural and Social Environment!
CPC(M-L) applauds and supports the actions of the Indigenous peoples, youth, working class, and broad sections of the people in their efforts to restrict the monopolies and oligopolies and their ruinous activities to plunder the world and people for private profit. The peoples’ efforts must be intensified to bring to an end the agenda of exploitation and war and the governments in its service.
Everything regarding the socialized economy must become public and exposed for all to see and evaluate. No oligarch or official can be allowed to hide behind a curtain of private interests. The modern economy encompasses all peoples and Mother Earth as one sheet of steel and is everybody’s business regardless of position. To achieve this, working people must persist in stating their concerns and demands as a first step to establishing a real hold on political and economic power. In this way they can bring to the fore the human factor/social consciousness and lead the movement to humanize the social and natural environment.
The people must become the decision-makers and set the direction of the economy in a manner that protects the environment and affirms the right to be of the peoples of the entire world.
All Out to Make Our Claims on Society Known on Earth Day 2022!
