U.S./NATO Expansion Identified as Cause of Conflict in Ukraine

Anti-NATO Demonstrations in Bulgaria

Demonstrators and activists gathered in front of the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence on March 19 at the time the U.S. Secretary of Defense met with Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petrov to launch a new NATO battlegroup. According to news reports and video footage, they waved Bulgarian and Russian flags and could be heard chanting “NATO Out!” Banners read “No to Sanctions Against Russia,” “Down with the U.S. and NATO.”
