66th Anniversary of Triumph of Cuban Revolution
– January 1, 1959
In 2025, Go All Out to Stand with
Revolutionary Cuba!
|
Sixty-six years ago, on January 1, 1959, the Cuban people marked the triumph of their battle to overthrow the U.S.-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. It was an outstanding achievement then and today the fact that the Cuban people and their Revolution continue to stand strong and free is also an outstanding achievement.
The past year marks another year in which the Cuban people and their leadership have defended and developed their revolution in the face of the increasingly brutal U.S. blockade that is being tightened to unprecedented levels. In the Cuban Revolution we see those fighting for progress, facing the difficulties they face with courage, dignity and honour, always dedicating all of society’s human and natural resources to the human beings without whose input nothing can be accomplished.
In 2025, efforts must be stepped up in Quebec and Canada to make sure the U.S. blockade of Cuba is ended and Canada stops conciliating with it in the name of defending human rights, democracy and other unacceptable arguments. The blockade violates the rights of Cuban women, children, seniors and the entire people. Their right to health care, food security, economic security, the right to decide the direction of their society and their very right to be are all affected and there is no argument that can justify such crimes.
Oppose the support the Government of Canada gives to the counter-revolutionaries who it harbours and invites to present bogus testimony in parliamentary committees and its bogus arguments about Cuba not guaranteeing human rights.
The recent march in Havana and rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in Havana was attended by 500,000 people who spoke out with one voice to call for the U.S. blockade to be lifted and for the removal of Cuba from the U.S. list of state sponsors of terrorism. The U.S. measures cause great harm to Cuba’s ability to conduct normal commercial and financial relations with other countries and they are devastating to the well-being of the Cuban people.
Far from falling for counter-revolutionary attempts to bring down the Cuban government and end the Cuban revolution, the people’s resolve to defend the revolution is strengthened as a result of their experience of the kind of human rights and democracy the U.S. wants to impose on them.
Cuba is a small island nation but the role it plays in world affairs greatly inspires all peoples fighting for their right to be. It shows what can be done when it must be done!
On the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the Cuban revolution, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) conveys its warmest revolutionary greetings to the Communist Party of Cuba and the people of Cuba. Their courage, tenacity and humanity are without equal.
The Party salutes Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, whose tireless, steady and precise leadership inspire the Cuban people to find solutions and persist in their chosen path in the face of unprecedented difficulties caused primarily by the criminal genocidal U.S. blockade. We send our profound revolutionary greetings to Army General Raúl Castro and all those from the historic generation that achieved the triumph of the Cuban Revolution 66 years ago and to all those who have taken their rightful place in all its achievements by upholding the legacy of their legendary Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.
CPC(M-L) is confident that the resistance of people nurtured by the Cuban revolution will give rise to solutions which help the country and people overcome the difficulties they face. They have valuable experience to draw upon, acquired during these 66 years of the Revolution, that gives them confidence in their own capacity to marshal the people’s ingenuity and steadfastness in their own service. Cuba’s mettle is also bolstered by broad support of the peoples of the world who greatly admire its achievements and contributions to the forward march of humanity.
In the face of the increasing viciousness of the U.S. blockade and U.S.-backed terrorism, CPC(M-L) calls on all its members, supporters and friends of Cuba to go all out in 2025 to step up the work to defend and build support for Cuba, discuss its revolutionary nation-building project and the measures it is taking during this period to turn historic success into historic victory.
Long Live the Cuban Revolution!
