June 24
Women’s Strike Canada 2024 and the Fight for Women’s Rights and the Rights of All
The Women’s Strike Canada was held on June 24 to mark the second anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, negating women’s constitutional right to abortion. Actions were also held across the U.S.
The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) congratulates the women who in the 1970s and ever since have fought for women’s rights and the rights of all. They were the first in the history of Canada to bring Parliament to a standstill and force its closure. Listen to Dawn Hemingway tell the story of their heroic deeds at that time when the total number of women MPs was one.
