65th Anniversary of Triumph of Cuban Revolution
In 2024, Go All Out to Stand with Revolutionary Cuba! Long Live the Cuban Revolution!
January 1, 2024 marks the 65th anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution over the U.S.-backed dictatorship of Fulgencio Batista. This is a remarkable and outstanding achievement because it marks another year in which the Cuban people and their leadership have defended and developed their revolution in the face of a brutal U.S. blockade, that is being tightened to unprecedented levels. In the Cuban Revolution we see those fighting for progress and dedicating all of society’s resources to the flourishing of the human person, at home and abroad. Meanwhile, the U.S. blockade, in the name of defending human rights, violates the Cuban people’s rights, including their right to health care, food security, economic security, the right to decide the direction of their society and their very right to be.
On this occasion, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) conveys its warmest revolutionary greetings to the people of Cuba and their leadership. The Party is confident that revolutionary Cuba will prevail over all the obstacles it faces. It will do so because it has 65 years of precious experience to draw upon, that includes its capacity to marshal the people’s ingenuity and steadfastness in the service of the Revolution. Cuba’s mettle is also bolstered by broad support of the peoples of the world who greatly admire its achievements and contributions to the forward march of humanity.
Granma, in a year-end article, summed up Cuba’s relations with the U.S. in 2023, saying that very little progress was made in improving relations. “On the contrary, the administration led by Joe Biden continues to hold the record of being the most efficient and dedicated in enforcing sanctions against Cuba.” It notes, “The blockade is behind every medicine that is missing, the thermoelectric plant that has stopped, the transportation that lacks spare parts, the social project that could not be executed.” It adds that the U.S. specifically targets the public sector, “knowing that it provides essential services for the entire population, such as health, education, sports, culture, etc., without exclusions of any kind. […] On the other hand, lies, manipulation of the truth, political-ideological subversion, organization and financing of violent anti-Cuban groups within the U.S. increased during the year that is ending.”
Indeed, the U.S. imperialists continue to foment counterrevolution and outright terrorism against Cuba. For example, in early December 2023, Resumen LatinoAmericano English reported that as “[t]he end of 2023 is approaching and while Cuban families prepare to welcome in the New Year, actions are committed to tarnish the celebrations, thus causing pain and death. Cuban authorities foiled a few days ago a plan of terrorist actions by Cubans living in the United States, which would presumably be carried out during the New Year’s holidays.” It reported that a Cuban resident in the United States arrived illegally from Florida by jet ski on Cuba’s northern coast in Martí municipality, Matanzas province to organize terrorist attacks, but was detained before he could do so. According to the Ministry of the Interior (MININT), U.S.-based Cubans involved in these events have links with other terrorists living there, who publicly promote violent actions against Cuba and have even received military training and are wanted by the Cuban authorities for their involvement in the promotion, planning, organization and financing of acts of terrorism.
“The United States publicly promotes violent actions against Cuba through people who have received training in the United States with weapons, training, and resources to execute these plans. Among them are terrorists who have been included in the list of persons under investigation and wanted for their involvement in terrorist attempts against Cuba, published at the beginning of December 2023 in the Official Gazette of the Republic,” MININT assured. Meanwhile, the U.S. slanders Cuba as a supporter of terrorism by putting it on its spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism, that blocks Cuba’s trade and international financial transactions.
In the face of the increasing viciousness of the U.S. blockade and U.S.-backed terrorism, CPC(M-L) calls on all its members, supporters and friends of Cuba to go all out in 2024 to step up the work to defend and build support for Cuba, discuss its revolutionary nation-building project and the measures it is taking during this period to turn historic success into historic victory. Cuba is a small island nation but the role it plays in world affairs are a great inspiration to all peoples fighting for their right to be. It shows that it can be done! It must be done!
Despite all its difficulties, Cuba continues to render unparalleled internationalist assistance to the peoples of the world, according to the words of José Martí as realized by Fidel Castro and the Cuban Revolution, Patria es Humanidad – Homeland Is Humanity. At a time when the imperialists are more than ever wrecking international relations based on upholding peace and sovereignty, including by imposing a self-serving so-called rules-based order and backing intolerable crimes by the Zionists against the heroic Palestinian people, Cuba’s contributions to maintaining the high road of humanity are more important than ever.
The Party salutes Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba whose tireless, steady and precise leadership inspire the Cuban people to find solutions and persist in their chosen path in the face of unprecedented difficulties caused primarily by the criminal genocidal U.S. blockade. We send our profound revolutionary greetings to Army General Raúl Castro and all those from the historic generation that achieved the triumph of the Cuban Revolution 65 years ago and all those who have taken their rightful place in all its achievements. We salute the Communist Party of Cuba and the Cuban people whose courage, tenacity and humanity are without equal. As the Cuban President stated in his December 22, 2023 speech, Cuba is facing the impacts of the blockade “with determination and firmness, with intelligence and integrity, with optimism and confidence, sharing efforts and contributions among all of us, in the midst of an adverse context, but confident that we shall overcome the challenges with hard work, talent and creativity, that is, with creative resistance.”
Long Live Revolutionary Cuba!
Congratulations to the Cuban People and Their Leadership on the 65th Anniversary of Their Revolution!
Hasta la Victoria Siempre!
