Actions in defence of First
Nations' rights are held in nearly 100 communities across Canada, and
including a march of 4,000 people on Parliament Hill, as part of the
Idle No More campaign, a response to the Harper government’s attacks on
First Nations. The actions also support Chief Theresa Spence of
the Attawapiskat First Nation who started a hunger strike December 11,
demanding a meeting with the Prime Minister and a representative of
Queen Elizabeth II to renew and protect their treaty and to end their
marginalization and assimilation and the theft of their resources.
