Actions in defence of First Nations' rights are held in nearly 100 communities across Canada, and including a march of 4,000 people on Parliament Hill, as part of the Idle No More campaign, a response to the Harper government’s attacks on First Nations.  The actions also support Chief Theresa Spence of the Attawapiskat First Nation who started a hunger strike December 11, demanding a meeting with the Prime Minister and a representative of Queen Elizabeth II to renew and protect their treaty and to end their marginalization and assimilation and the theft of their resources.
