Fidel Castro Implemented the Words of José Martí: Homeland Is Humanity
|
On the occasion of the eighth anniversary of the death of the legendary leader of the Cuban Revolution Fidel Castro, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) sends profound revolutionary greetings to the people of Cuba, the Communist Party of Cuba and its leadership. Given what is taking place in Palestine at this time, this year we pay specific homage to Fidel for giving meaning to the words of José Martí, Homeland Is Humanity, with the creation of a Cuban state which is motivated by making sure the recognition of human rights is put in first place in all its endeavours. Thanks to the creation of such a state, Cuba also conducts international relations on the same basis. It is the way forward the peoples of the world are crying out for as they experience and witness the terrible crimes against humanity the U.S.-backed Zionist regime is carrying out against the Palestinian people with impunity.
Fidel was an example of revolutionary spirit and fidelity to principles. His example continues to guide and inspire the Cuban people on the road to guaranteeing their sovereignty, independence and human dignity.
Fidel’s revolutionary commitment to the affirmation of the rights and well-being of the Cuban people and the oppressed peoples of the world gave him great foresight, which enabled him to direct Cuba’s nation-building project in a consistent and principled all-sided manner. This prepared and mobilized the Cuban people and their leadership to build the modern institutions they require, to bring into being the next generation of leadership which upholds Revolution as the guarantee of sovereignty and well-being, and to fight for the same internationally.
Fidel’s loss continues to be felt not only by the Cuban people but also by the peoples of all lands who benefitted greatly from his vision and practice as well as his strength. This can be seen in the strength of the Cuban people’s resistance to the inhuman all-sided U.S. blockade of Cuba and that of their government. This blockade has been tightened since Fidel’s death, with the U.S. imperialists doing everything in their power to undermine the Cuban Revolution in the hopes that Fidel’s passing meant the end of the Cuban revolutionary nation-building project. But it is the strength of the all-sided socialist nation-building project that Fidel and his comrades established when they carried out the Cuban Revolution that culminated in victory in 1959, which makes it possible to confront the inhuman atrocities the U.S. is committing against Cuba and its people. Today we see a new generation of Cubans heroically defending the Revolution from the stepped-up criminal and inhumane all-sided blockade and attempts at counterrevolution by the U.S. imperialists, in the midst of global crises on every front.
Today, in this defining moment, to honour the memory of Fidel is to stand with Cuba in its efforts to end the colonial vestiges of foreign interference, blockades, occupation, war and genocide. It is to stand with Cuba in its struggle for the ongoing humanization of our social and natural environment, to which the life and work of Fidel were unwaveringly committed.
We are forever indebted to Fidel.
Long Live Fidel’s Legacy!
Long Live Revolutionary Cuba!
¡Hasta la Victoria Siempre, Comandante !
¡Venceremos !
