50 Years of Popular Resistance, September 11, 1973-2023
Commemorate 50th Anniversary of U.S.-Backed Military Coup in Chile
September 11, 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the U.S.-led coup d’état in Chile, in which forces commanded by General Augusto Pinochet brutally assassinated President Salvador Guillermo Allende and murdered, tortured and imprisoned thousands of people. It marked the start of the anti-communist Operation Condor throughout South America and the subsequent dirty wars in Central America.
Come out to these events to remember the victims of the U.S. coup and express our deepest sympathies and respect to all the relatives of those killed and disappeared, and also to celebrate 50 years of popular resistance in Chile, as the Chilean people continue their resolute struggle to obtain justice for the crimes committed by the Pinochet regime and its U.S. sponsors, rid themselves of the remnants of the Pinochet era and provide themselves with a new constitution.
