Alba Social Movements Canada is organizing a zoom discussion with Mr. Carlos Ron, Vice-Minister for North America of the People’s Power for Foreign Relations of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on June 21. Vice-Minister Ron recently addressed an English-speaking audience and this meeting will address a Spanish-speaking audience.
Vice-Minister Ron has been asked to elaborate on how the people of Venezuela are organized to defend themselves against invasions by U.S-led mercenaries or other military forces, and sabotage of all types. He will speak to how the people are defending the victories of the Bolivarian Revolution against attempts by the U.S., along with the so-called Lima group spearheaded by Canada, to overthrow the legitimate government of Venezuela led by Nicolás Maduro. He has also been asked to speak on how Venezuela is achieving important victories in the fight against the pandemic while contending with killer sanctions.
Remarks by the Vice-Minister will be followed by a question and answer period. Participants are invited to limit their questions or comments to 3 minutes, to allow for wide participation.
The meeting coincides with the 199th anniversary of the Battle of Carabobo which took place on June 24, 1821 on the plains of Carabobo in Venezuela. It was one of the main battles fought for Venezuela’s independence within the context of the independence struggles of patriotic Latin American forces against royalist Spain.
