Significance of the Call to Defeat the Liberals and PCs

March 6, 2014 - The call to defeat the Liberals and PCs provincially that has been taken up by various forces in Ontario creates a space for this to be done. Its aim is to put into action the superior forces of the working people so that they are able to become a political force that will eventually be able to provide an alternative in the Legislature to the nation-wrecking that has become the norm as a result of the neo-liberal program for the society. A start is to go into action to hold those who have trampled on their rights to account. This is done by activating the working people's social consciousness, rather than trying to convince them to act in a manner that is inconsistent with their conscience. Who people vote for is a matter of the right to conscience. When people are told who to vote for it goes against this right and does not allow people to act with conviction. For the workers to defend their rights it is crucial they sort out for themselves how to defend these rights at the ballot box. The experience in Kitchener-Waterloo, Windsor-Tecumseh, London West and most recently in Niagara Falls, shows this is the case.
