Palestinian and Lebanese Resistance Forces Face This Defining Moment with Courage, Resilience, Intelligence and Creativity
Israeli air strikes on Lebanon killed at least 492 people on Monday, September 23, the Lebanese Ministry of Health announced. This includes 35 children and more than 42 women, while a further 1,645 people have been injured in the strikes. The attack came just days after at least 37 people were killed and over 3,000 others injured in two waves of wireless communication device explosions across Lebanon. This brings the number of those killed since September 17 to well over 500.
The Zionist army said that it launched more than 300 air strikes in Lebanon since early morning September 23, marking the heaviest bombardment since October 8, 2023.
Hezbollah also confirmed that 16 of its members, including senior leader, Ibrahim Aqil, and top Commander, Ahmed Wahbi, had been killed in an earlier Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut September 20.
The Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist) condemns these attacks of the U.S./ Zionist forces and hails the heroic resistance of the Lebanese forces engaged in both defending Lebanese sovereignty and engaging the criminal U.S./Zionist regime to take the pressure off of the Palestinian resistance fighting in Gaza and now also the West Bank.
The U.S./Zionist war crimes aimed at terrorizing the Lebanese people by targeting them and their infrastructure and blaming Hezbollah for exposing them to danger, have thus far totally failed to turn the population against the Resistance. This includes the official Lebanese government, of which Hezbollah in an integral part, which has thus far risen to defend Lebanese sovereignty against these brutal attacks.
For
its part, the criminal U.S./Zionist regime is suffering significantly
from the strikes it has received from the resistance forces which have
penetrated deep into Israel targeting significant military
installations. These strikes have already exposed Netanyahu's bravado
that he will make sure
settlers can return to northern Israeli. Far from it, no part of Israel
is now safe.
This is a defining moment for the Palestinian people as well as for Lebanon and the inhabitants of all the countries in the region whose sovereignty must be defended by upholding the Palestinian people's right to be. It is also a defining moment for the peoples of Canada and the U.S. where the ruling elites are part of the U.S./Zionist conspiracy to wipe out the Resistance forces.
It is important to go all out to do whatever is within the reach of humanity to help the Palestinian people defeat U.S./Zionist genocide and realize their just cause of a free Palestine, from the river to the sea.
Heroic Lebanese Resistance Responds to Israeli Brutality with "Open-Ended Battle of Reckoning"
Hezbollah
fired rockets into the occupied Palestinian territories in northern
Israel in response to Israeli bombardment, September 24, 2024.
On September 23, following the Israeli terror attacks on September 17 and 18 and the barrage of Israeli rockets on September 22, the Lebanese Resistance organization Hezbollah retaliated with missile strikes on multiple sites in northern occupied Palestine, including near Haifa and Tiberias. In an operation which it calls an "open-ended battle of reckoning," it said these actions were carried out "in support of our steadfast Palestinian people and honorable Resistance in the Gaza Strip, and in response to the Israeli enemy's attacks on the southern and Beqaa regions."
Hezbollah informed that its resistance fighters bombarded the reserve headquarters of the Northern Corps, the reserve base of the Galilee Division, and its logistical depots at the Ami'ad Base, as well as Rafael military industries complexes in the Zevulun area north of Haifa with dozens of rockets.
The Islamic Resistance fighters then targeted the military industrial complexes of the arms manufacturer Rafael Company in the Zevulun area north of Haifa with dozens of rockets.
Ramat David airbase was then targeted with dozens of rockets.
Finally, the Islamic Resistance fighters again targeted the main warehouses of the northern command at Nimra Base with dozens of rockets.
Palestine Chronicle, reporting on a similar action carried out the day before, informed that "Hezbollah's massive and long operation on September 22 relied only on limited types of missiles, improvised Syrian and Iranian rockets named Fadi-1 and Fadi-2, in addition to the use of the standard Katyusha rockets.
"Hezbollah's success has abruptly ended the celebrations in Israel, following the cyber-terror attacks and the killing of the Radwan commanders."

Lebanese people flee brutal Israeli bombardment of southern Lebanon,

In their desperation, the U.S./Zionist regime and forces continue to commit genocide against the Palestinian people and now also threaten Lebanon and the Lebanese people and the peoples of all the countries in the region. They are engaged in frenzied acts of death and destruction because they are not getting their way. The sovereignty of every country is in danger of extinction unless they rise up in defence of the right to be of the Palestinian people by stopping Israel and its U.S. imperialist, British and other sponsors. This is how this defining moment in history poses itself in the face of the crimes the U.S./Israeli Zionists are carrying out.
While the criminal attacks were being launched against Lebanon on Monday, Netanyahu declared that he is considering implementing the so-called General's Plan in northern Gaza. It is a plan to lay siege to northern Gaza promoted by a group of senior Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) reservists including retired Major General Giora Eiland. Eiland argued last week that the plan would "change the reality" on the ground in Gaza, the Times of Israel informed.
In this vein, news media comment that in their desperation, "changing the equation" has become Israel's new operative phrase.
According to the Times of Israel, Eiland said: "We have to tell the residents of north Gaza that they have one week to evacuate the territory, which then becomes a military zone, a zone in which every figure is a target and, most importantly, no supplies enter this territory." Eiland argued that a siege is not only an effective military tactic but is also compliant with international law, the Times of Israel reported.
Showing the criminal intent of the forces engaged in the genocide of the Palestinian people, Eiland said: "What matters to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar is land and dignity, and with this maneuver, you take away both land and dignity."
This plan once again provides evidence of the cold-blooded calculations on which the U.S./Zionist genocide is based even though all these calculations and criminal acts have thus far failed because of the staunch opposition of the resistance forces.
Media reports inform that Netanyahu told the committee that controlling the distribution of humanitarian aid is key to winning in Gaza and that efforts to enlist local tribes had failed. As such, he said, enacting a military regime to run affairs in the territory may be necessary for now, even if it is not his goal, the Times of Israel reported. This is the newspaper of record in Israel which is integral to promoting the U.S./Zionist genocide to both appease those in Israel who want to bring Netanyahu down if he does not achieve their aim of wiping out the Palestinians, and to terrorize the resistance forces. This media, at the behest of the U.S., which continues to promote itself as the super broker which can establish peace in the region, repeats that this so-called General's Plan does not have U.S. backing.
Far from not having its backing, Pentagon spokesman Maj. Gen. Patrick Ryder told reporters on Monday that "as a precaution" the U.S. would send more military personnel to the region. "In light of increased tension in the Middle East and out of an abundance of caution, we are sending a small number of additional U.S. military personnel forward to augment our forces that are already in the region. But for operational security reasons, I'm not going to comment on or provide specifics."
"We have more capability in the region today than we did on April 14 when Iran conducted its drone and missile attack against Israel," Ryder said.
Anything the U.S. says in this regard is to cover up that the U.S. and Britain along with others intent on depriving the peoples of the world of their sovereignty are the main providers of weapons, intelligence and even personnel to carry out Zionist Israel's genocide. The U.S. imperialists desperately need to control all the countries in the region. However, this is precisely what they stand to lose fast as these countries also face an existential crisis if they do not rise to defend their own sovereignty after decades of being the cat's paw of U.S. imperialism. As Canada also provides criminal support by continuing the fraud that Israel has the right to defend itself and is abiding by the laws of war, it too has to contend with the fatal loss of credibility and legitimacy of what it calls its democratic institutions.
The developments harbour the danger that the slaughter of the peoples of the region at the hands of the U.S./Zionist regime is likely to increase mercilessly in coming days. But they also show that the resistance forces are waging a fight to the death to make sure these criminals suffer a crushing defeat from which they cannot recover. The peoples of the entire world stand as one with the Palestinian resistance. This resistance is sure to act with renewed courage, resilience, intelligence and creativity as it has done to date. This is a defining moment. History stands with the forces fighting for justice, peace, freedom and democracy.
