Woman Mistakes Ukrainian Troops for Russians
Video is said to show an elderly woman who confused the Ukrainian armed forces for the Russians and came out to greet them with a red Soviet flag, saying: “Finally you came we were waiting for you and praying for you to come.”
The Ukrainian soldier gave the old woman cans of food, but then suddenly snatched her flag and threw it on the ground wiping his feet on it.
He then says: “Now repeat Hail Ukraine, Glory to the Heroes.”
The woman returns the canned food, saying; “My family fought the Nazis under this flag, I don’t need your food.”
Attacks on Roma by Ukrainian Vigilantes
On March 22, 2022, a Czech-based Roma human rights organization confirmed reports of a number of Roma from Lviv being tied to lampposts and publicly humiliated. This was reportedly orchestrated by a local vigilante group called “the Hunters.” Photos are from social media posts.
Youth Accused of Looting Face Vigilante Punishment
Video above shows youth accused of looting being attacked and publicly humiliated. Photos below show other similar attacks. Such incidents have been reported in medium to large-sized cities in different parts of Ukraine. In some cases perpetrators are reported to be vigilantes in civilian clothing, in other cases they have weapons and wear the uniforms of Ukrainian security forces. Some mayors and other Ukrainian officials have openly expressed support for such attacks.
