Housing Is a Right!

Montreal
Wednesday, April 16 — 6:00 pm

Radio-Canada Building, 1000 Papineau Ave. (Papineau metro station)
Organized by: FRAPRU

The Popular Action Front for Urban Renewal (FRAPRU) is putting the right to housing and the urgent need for social housing on the agenda in this election by holding a protest in front of the Radio-Canada building in Montreal on April 16 at 6:00 pm, at the same time of the debate of the leaders of the cartel parties. Join in!

Across the country, renters face rent that is too high, or eviction by their landlords and the prospect of homelessness. FRAPRU writes:

“There are thousands of you in this situation! There’s no doubt about it: private private housing is in short supply and too expensive. What’s more, there’s a lack of social housing to protect tenants! The federal government provides some funding, but it’s not enough. Even worse, some parties want to cut this funding!

“In this election campaign, we are asking for commitments to build 500,000 social housing units in 10 years. The federal government’s money must fund SOCIAL housing, not PRIVATE housing.”

It is calling on the federal government to put all resources at its disposal to meet this goal.
