The Toronto Forum on Cuba is marking the 75th anniversary of International Human Rights Day — and also the 75th anniversary of UN General Assembly Resolution 194 that affirms the right of return to their homeland of Palestinian refugees displaced by the Nakba and subsequent crimes by the Israeli Zionists — with a political-cultural event dedicated to the heroic people of Palestine. The Forum points out the hypocrisy of the imperialist states and their appeasers who claim to uphold human rights yet support and defend Israel in its ongoing genocide in Gaza/Palestine, that violates all the basic human rights of the Palestinians.
On this occasion, the Toronto Forum on Cuba invites people to “join us and share the space so we can internalize what José Martí said, Homeland Is Humanity – Patria es Humanidad.” This event also honours the life and legacy of Fidel Castro Ruz, the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, on the seventh anniversary of his death. Fidel realized Martí’s words through Cuba’s outstanding internationalism, always giving profound support to the Palestinian people and their struggle to affirm their rights and nationhood.
