Women Coming Forward to Take Up the Renovation and Modernization of the Entire Society
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023, the Communist Party of Canada (Marxist‑Leninist) salutes the women in its ranks who are all in leading positions. It salutes the women in this country and around the world who have shown what they are made of by fighting for the changes required by humanity.
Women are in the trenches of every struggle the working and oppressed peoples are waging. They are courageously opposing the consequences of the neo-liberal anti-social offensive. They are more and more refusing to accept the limitations the liberal democratic institutions place on their actions while governments of police powers lift the limitations on their ability to act with impunity. Women are courageously facing attempts to dismiss them, criminalize them and reduce them to disposable things. They are empowering themselves by going all out to fully assume their social responsibilities, which includes contributing to the renovation and modernization of the entire society.
In the course of laying the claims which they must for what belongs to them by right, women and girls are drawing warranted conclusions about the kind of democratic institutions which permit the current state of affairs. This includes the mistreatment of women in the name of championing their rights, as well as of workers, Indigenous Peoples, injured workers and the impoverished as well as the abuse of Mother Nature. They are drawing warranted conclusions about the need to hold to account governments of police powers that increasingly act with impunity to serve the narrow private interests that have usurped the decision-making power.
So too are they drawing warranted conclusions about the warmongering and disinformation which accompany the nation-wrecking of the ruling elites and rejecting those said to represent modern women who commit Canada to march in lockstep with the U.S., put Canada’s economy and people at the disposal of the U.S. war machine and threaten the peace. Only the mass ideological and political mobilization of the people will settle scores with this state of affairs.
By leading the struggle for the creation of a society which affirms the rights of all, women stand second to none. This is because those who lead set the agenda and participate in taking the decisions which affect their lives. They do so by establishing their own vantage point, not ricocheting off vantage points which serve the ruling elite. They then organize to make sure their decisions are implemented and achieve success.
Nobody tells working women their place in society. It is their space; they take their place as they collectively define it along with all others who share that space in the here and now. By coming forward to take up the renovation and modernization the entire society and its institutions need, they are tackling the battle for democracy which requires the renewal of the political process and modernization of constitutional arrangements and of the raison d’état. The aim is to put human beings and their relations with one another and with nature at the centre of society’s concerns, not narrow supranational private interests which impose conditions of anarchy and violence, have taken up nation-wrecking and engage in wars to destroy whatever they cannot control. This puts working women in the van of the struggles where they themselves define what is necessary and how to go about achieving it.
The fight waged by women and girls to affirm their rights within the anti-social conditions which exist at this time is courageous, heroic, inspiring and decisive in the fight to uphold the rights of all and to emancipate all of humanity. It is part and parcel of the struggle of the working class to constitute the nation and vest sovereignty in the people.
On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2023, all out to fully assume our social responsibility! Let us together renovate and modernize society so that it recognizes the rights of all and makes Canada a zone for peace!
