Palestinian Resistance Continues to Inflict Severe Losses on Israeli Occupation Forces

Palestinian Resistance organizations continue to inflict heavy casualties on the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF), carrying out deadly ambushes and other actions in various parts of Gaza.

Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, announced on June 6 that it had carried out a joint bombardment operation with al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Resistance Movement Hamas. The operation targeted an Israeli military command and control center near the Canada Hall, southeast of Khan Younis, using heavy-calibre mortar shells.

The Palestinian Resistance group also released video footage documenting Israeli military vehicles operating northwest of Beit Lahia in northern Gaza, where fighters executed a highly precise ambush with a high-powered, armour-piercing explosive device.

Additionally, al-Quds Brigades announced successfully detonating a highly explosive barrel bomb targeting an Israeli vehicle in Gemmayze Street, in Kaf al-Qarara in northern Khan Younis.

Israeli media sources reported that five IOF soldiers were killed and twelve others sustained serious injuries in Khan Younis when explosives which had been planted in a building where forces from the elite Maglan Special Operations unit were stationed were detonated.

According to Israeli media, the troops followed the required protocol to ensure the building was not booby-trapped but failed to find the planted explosives, noting that the IOF is stuck in a cycle of repetition, "returning to the same locations, repeating the same tactics, and failing to produce measurable results."

The Zionist military authorities issued a media blackout on the incident's details while confirming the casualties were members of elite special forces units.

On June 2, al-Qassam Brigades used a drone to drop a bomb on soldiers in Shuja'iyya amidst ongoing fierce clashes, inflicting casualties on the IOF.

Israeli news outlets described the week of June 2 as one of the "most difficult" since December/January of last year, with more than eight IOF soldiers killed in three days.

Prior to that, Al Mayadeen reported that Resistance fighters detonated a premises housing Israeli occupation soldiers, wounding at least 10 troops, with one soldier still unaccounted for.

Israeli media reported as well the death of a soldier from the Yahalom combat engineering unit during fighting in southern Gaza. The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation quoted the commander of the 77th Battalion in Khan Younis who said that the Palestinian Resistance fighters "are rigging roads with explosives and relying heavily on ambush tactics," adding that "nearly every building is booby-trapped."
