U.S. Day of Action Tells Biden: We Are the Red Line – End the Genocide!
On June 8, in Washington, DC 100,000 people joined in a mass action, completely surrounding the White House with the People's Red Line against genocide, in a national action to mark the eight months of Israel's war on Gaza.
The name of the action referred to U.S. President "Genocide
Joe" Biden's claim in March that an Israeli invasion of Rafah
was his "red line" and that he would not countenance the
Israelis crossing it. Nonetheless, the Israeli invasion of Rafah
has been underway since May and continued U.S. support has given
the Zionists carte blanche to commit one increasingly
depraved massacre after another in Rafah and elsewhere.
The action started at Lafayette Park in front of the White
House, then protesters wearing red clothes surrounded the
building with a two-mile-long red banner, covered in the names
of Palestinians killed by Israel. Protestors chanted, From DC to Palestine, We Are the
Red Line! and Biden,
We
Are Your Red Line!, and carried flags and signs
saying, Genocide Is Our
Red Line, Biden's Red Line Was a Lie, Hands Off
Rafah! Stop the Genocide, End All U.S. Aid to Israel!,
Stop Arming Israel, Lift the Siege on Gaza Now! and Arms Embargo on Israel!
among many others.
The action in DC affirmed that it is the people who determine
what is acceptable -- based on their demands for peace, justice
and the rights of the Palestinian people -- not the warmongers
in their self-serving pursuit of control over peoples and
territories, and pursuit of profits from arms sales.
A mass action was organized in Los Angeles in conjunction with the national action for those on the west coast who could not travel to Washington DC.
