2014 Photo Review
All Out for People's Empowerment!
continues its photo review of actions carried out by collectives of
working people in 2014, to fight
for the rights of all, defend public
right, and oppose imperialist aggression. In particular the month of July saw
a large-scale mobilization across the country in opposition to Israel's
genocidal aggression against the people of Gaza and the Canadian
government's support for Israeli state terror. Actions
denounced the Israeli occupation of Palestine, its bombing and criminal
blockade of Gaza and supported the right of the Palestinian people to
resist. Participants brought forward the need for Canada to have an
anti-war government which stands with the peoples of the world
against imperialist aggression.
Quebec hold a one-day strike and demonstrations to
protest delays in negotiations for their second contract.
Bombardier workers in
Thunder Bay reject the company's demands for
on wages, benefits and pensions and go on strike. There are 1,000
workers at the plant, which
is building new streetcars and subway cars for the Toronto Transit
Commission, and their contract expired at the end of May.
During the summer
break, teachers in Langley and throughout BC continue to picket schools
and MLAs' offices and to hold other actions in their fight for a
negotiated contract and to defend public education.
Activists from the
Manitoulin and North Shore Injured Workers' Group in Ontario
demonstrate at a local summer festival to bring attention to the
Ontario government's dismantling of the public workers' compenstation
system and its refusal to ensure injured workers receive proper
so as to live in dignity.
