Global Day of Action for Palestine

Peoples All Over the World Continue to
Stand with Palestinian Resistance

Ottawa, October 10

Around the world, from October 3-11, millions of people participated in actions to mark the third anniversary of the Palestinian Resistance's Operation Al Aqsa Flood. With these actions the world's peoples reaffirmed that In Our Millions, in Our Billions, We Are All Palestinians! They called for an end to the U.S./Israeli genocide against Palestinians and an end to the occupation. They held their governments to account for complicity with Israel.

On October 10 activists marched as one in what is hailed as the first fully co-ordinated global day of action for Palestine. Some sixty countries are reported to have taken part with more than 260 marches, rallies, blockades and vigils.

In all the major centres, youth too are demonstrating against the subservience of ruling elites to the arms industries and military recruitment and conscription.

The resistance of the Palestinian people is not only just but also necessary. For the heroic  Palestinian people the Resistance builds their identity as a people who will not accept to be defined by the big powers behind attempts to commit genocide against them. Neither will the world's people bow to the use of extreme violence and acts of obliteration that the U.S. and their partners in crime are unleashing.

In Canada marches and rallies took place in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, Kitchener, Edmonton, Vancouver and in many other communities. Actions denounced the government of Canada continued complicity in aggression against Gaza, Lebanon, Iran and Yemen under the hoax that they stand for rule of law against terrorism and extremism.

Many actions took place across the U.S. with the main events being in Washington, DC, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

An estimated 250,000 people marched in London, England, demanding that the British government stop supplying arms to Israel and expressing solidarity with the struggle of the Palestinian people for an end to the occupation and the complete liberation of Palestine. Thousands rallied in Dublin, Ireland and in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Marches and demonstrations were held across Europe -- in over 50 cities in Italy including Rome, Milan, Turin, Naples and Bologne, in a number of cities in Germany including Berlin, in Zurich, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Netherlands and Athens, Greece. In Spain actions took place in over 40 cities and towns. There were events in Eastern Europe and the Balkans, including a march in Warsaw, Poland that ended in front of the U.S. Embassy.

There were rallies and marches in Mexico and in many countries in Latin America including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Equador, Peru and Venezuela. In Colombia, hundreds of people, many of them university students, rallied in Bogotá opposing Colombia's new right-wing government's support for Israel.

In west Asia there were massive demonstrations in many cities in Yemen, including a million person march on October 9 in Sana'a, in solidarity with the people of Palestine and to announce a general mobilization against Saudi attacks on the Yemeni resistance. In Morocco there were over 30 actions. As well there were marches in Istanbul and other cities in Türkiye and Karachi, Pakistan.

In Seoul, South Korea, there were several actions starting on October 3 and culminating on October 11 with protests near the U.S. and Israeli embassies. In Tokyo, Japan there were actions during the week including a demonstration on October 7 under the banner Stop Israel's Ethnic Cleansing of Palestine!

Large marches took place on both October 7 and 10 in Capetown, South Africa. In Oceania there were marches and rallies across Australia and in New Zealand.

In addition to the rallies and marches, community, cultural and educational programs took place from film screenings in Nigeria and commemorative vigils in the Democratic Republic of Congo to student-led educational activities in Trinidad and Tobago, to days of actions in Kuala Lumpur. In Paris where the students have been in action defending their rights the protest organized by Urgence Palestine collective was banned, but students found ways to make their stand in support of Palestine known.

CANADA

Montreal, October 10

On the third anniversary of the October 7, 2023 Al Aqsa Flood operation and the unprecedented escalation of the genocidal U.S./Israeli siege of Gaza, thousands turned out to actions across Canada and Quebec to reaffirm their unwavering support for the Palestinian people's resistance. Rallies, marches and other events honoured the martyrs to the Palestinian cause, while calling for an end to the occupation of Gaza and the West Bank, an end to the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people and for Canada to end its funding of the genocide and impose an arms embargo now.

Montreal

At the call of the Palestinian Youth Movement (PYM) and numerous other organizations, nearly 1,500 people gathered in Montreal's downtown to mark the anniversary and to demand an end to the U.S.-Israeli genocide in the occupied territories, Gaza and the West Bank. Flags, placards and banners reflected this demand, with others calling for an end to the complicity of the other member states of the Genocide 7, of which Canada is a part. Among the slogans were: Arms Embargo Now!, Defend the Palestinian People's Right of Return!, and Hold the U.S., Canada and Their Accomplices in the Israeli Zionist Genocide to Account!

Speakers pointed out the struggle will not cease despite attempts to silence or criminalize opponents of the U.S.-backed Israeli Zionist regime. In this spirit, the representative of the Confederation of National Trade Unions' (CSN) Montreal District Labour Council declared before the assembled crowd:

"Denouncing a government and a state is not the same as denouncing a people. Denouncing Zionism and genocide is not anti-Semitism [...]. Lies and threats will not stop us from demanding justice for the Palestinian people. Shame on those who seek to turn the perpetrators into victims. [...] The complicity of our governments, our states, major corporations, banks and investment funds is appalling. We have a duty to denounce them and to demand that their decisions be in line with our desire for peace and security."

A PYM representative added:

"The Carney government has once again failed to take concrete action against the Zionist entity. The recent sanctions targeting settlement products are not enough, as we all know what the real problem is. The real problem is Israel's occupation of the West Bank, and the systematic imprisonment and torture of its population. There is the ethnic cleansing of 2 million people, and the entire system is part of the same pattern that has been in place since 1948. We demand immediate and far-reaching sanctions against Israel. [...]

"We demand the release of all Palestinian political prisoners. We demand measures and sanctions at all levels of government against all those who show indifference, ignorance or who deny the daily reality. And to those who think that Palestine is disconnected from us here in the West, we say that the cries of the men, women and children of Gaza and Rafah will ring loud in your ears and that you have blood on your hands."

The four demands put forward by the march organizers were reiterated:

- Canada must enforce a two-way arms embargo on Israel.
- Canada must implement sanctions on Israel.
- Quebec must close the Quebec Bureau (office) in Tel Aviv.
- All Palestinian political prisoners must be liberated from Zionist jails.

For nearly two hours, participants marched through the busy streets of the shopping district in Montreal's downtown core. Passers-by stopped to take photos, listen to the speeches or join in with the crowd's chants and songs, set to the beat of the march's drums.

Outside the Israeli consulate, where the march ended, a McGill student highlighted the recent victory in securing an agenda item on the next general assembly of the Student Society of McGill University. They are calling for McGill to sever all ties with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. A resolution adopted in October 2025 by the McGill University Faculty Association (MAUT) calls on McGill's administration to implement an academic and cultural boycott of Israeli institutions, which it has so far refused to do.

A demonstration marking the third anniversary of Al Aqsa Flood in Ottawa on October 10 affirmed Canadians' solidarity and support for the ongoing heroic resistance of the Palestinian people. Participants committed to continue to speak, to march and to stand together until the Occupation ends and until Palestine is free!

Toronto

In the heart of downtown Toronto thousands of people gathered on October 10 to express their undying support for the just cause of the Palestinian people on the third anniversary of Al Aqsa Flood. For an hour as people gathered shouts rang out of Free, Free Palestine!, Arms Embargo Now!, From the River to the Sea, Palestine Will be Free!, For Genuine Peace, Hands Off the Middle East! along with demands for an end to the U.S./Israeli aggression against Palestine, Lebanon and Iran.

A PYM spokesperson told those assembled in Sankofa Square that the rally and march were to honour the martyrs to the Palestinian cause, while calling for an end to the occupation, an end to the Israeli genocide of the Palestinian people and for Canada to end its complicity with the genocide and impose an arms embargo now. He pointed out that the action in Toronto brought together people from all communities, all walks of life, young and old, and was part of the upsurge of humanity across the world to stand with Palestine.

The march through Toronto's streets was greeted by expressions of support from people all along the route.

Edmonton

On October 10 close to 250 people rallied at Wilbert McIntyre Park in old Strathcona in Edmonton to honour the thousands of martyrs killed in Gaza in the past three years as well as to remember all the precious lives lost through genocide, assassination and imperialist war.

Speakers from Edmonton for Palestine reaffirmed the unwavering support for the resistance, for the Palestinian people and the axis of resistance and for peoples everywhere fighting for their right to be including the people of Yemen, Iran, Lebanon, Iraq, Cuba and Sudan. The steadfastness of the Palestinian people, they said, has awakened humanity and the world is not the same.

They reiterated the demand for the resignation of Edmonton’s Police Chief Warren Driechel after his trip to Israel to, in his words, “learn from the Zionists.” A representative of the Palestinian Students Alliance at Grant McEwan University denounced Chief Driechel and the Edmonton Police for their brutal assault on their gathering on October 7. The remembrance ceremony at which the students planned to read out the names of those who have been killed in Gaza was shut down before a single name was read and women students were forcibly removed by the police from their own campus.

Peggy Morton from the Edmonton Committee Against War and Racism denounced the U.S./Israel/Genocide 7 who are only capable of destruction of what they cannot control and who have utterly failed to achieve their aims to end the Resistance. It is the people who are decisive, she emphasized. She also spoke about the rapid militarization of life in Canada and the plan to make Edmonton the headquarters of the First Canadian Division which is expressly being organized for what the government calls major conflict, that is, preparing for world war. Not in Our Community!, people responded, and Make Canada a Zone for Peace!

Merryn Edwards de la O of Women for Rights and Empowerment emphasized that the world has changed since October 7, 2023.  The extreme violence and genocide have not succeeded in destroying the resistance. Far from it, the youth and people of the world stand with Palestine and for a free Palestine from the river to the sea. She echoed the calls to step up support for Palestine, applauding the determination of the students and reiterated that it is the people who are decisive and who will prevail, one humanity waging one struggle.

A militant march followed along Whyte Avenue and back to the park, with chants ringing out nonstop the entire way, expressing the spirit of defiance and resistance of the participants.
