Yemen Strikes U.S. Destroyer, Escalates Operations in Support of Palestine

Yemeni Armed Forces' spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree

Yemen has continued its support for Palestine by targeting U.S. ships and others assisting Israel. On December 1, the Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced an operation against one U.S. destroyer and three U.S. supply ships in the Arabian Sea and Gulf of Aden. The actions support the resistance in Palestine and are also part of opposing U.S. aggression against Yemen.

Spokesperson Brigadier General Yahya Saree confirmed in a statement that the Stena Impeccable, Maersk Saratoga, and Liberty Grace ships, U.S.-flagged ships being escorted by U.S. Navy vessels including a destroyer, were targeted in a top-tier military operation carried out by the YAF's missile and drone forces. According to the statement, 16 ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and one drone were used to carry out the multifaceted operation, achieving precise hits.

Saree said the YAF will continue escalating its military operations against the U.S. and ships associated with Israel. Together with the Ansarallah movement, the YAF will prevent ships from passing through the Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, and as far as the Indian Ocean.

Earlier, the missile force of the YAF also carried out a successful operation targeting a vital military site in the occupied Yafa region using a hypersonic missile of the Palestine 2 type.

Following these successes, in the space of 48 hours the Ansarallah movement, in coordination with the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, conducted three military operations against Israeli targets. Brigadier General Yahya Saree announced the actions on December 3.

According to Saree, two of the operations deployed multiple drones to strike Israeli positions in northern Israel, while the third targeted a strategic site in the Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat) region in southern Israel, also using drones. He confirmed that all three operations achieved their intended objectives.

The December actions follow similar success in November. The leader of the Yemeni Ansarallah movement, Abdulmalik al-Houthi, in a televised speech November 21, reiterated Yemen's unwavering support for the resistance in Palestine. He spoke of the continuing maritime actions and Yemen's resistance, saying "Yemen has challenged America with its warships and fleets at sea after it declared aggression against us, and Yemen has stood firm and never retreated from its position." He added, "Yemen targeted America's aircraft carriers, which terrorize many countries, regimes, and governments, using them to intimidate those who compete with it internationally."

He confirmed several operations done in defiance of the United States and Israel. "Yemen targeted the aircraft carriers, starting with the USS Eisenhower, which fled the Red Sea defeated, humiliated, and expelled," he said. Following the retreat of the USS Eisenhower, he emphasized, "the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln is now fleeing from the Arabian Sea after coming under attack, and the decision was made for it to return to where it came from and escape."

The Yemeni leader also condemned the U.S. for using its veto power against UN resolutions, saying it reflects U.S. "barbarism, brutality, and complicity in the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and Lebanon." Al-Houthi noted U.S. genocide and support for Israel is unsurprising given its long history of criminal acts, from the persecution of Native Americans to its nuclear bombing of Japan, and wars against Iraq and Afghanistan. "America is the one who talks the most about peace, and yet it is the one who commits the most crimes and wars of extermination in the world and is the occupation's partner in crime," he stated.

Al-Houthi also highlighted that "the person Trump appointed as his ambassador to the Israeli enemy does not believe in the existence of the West Bank or Gaza."

He concluded by commending the Resistance in Palestine, Lebanon, Iraq, and Yemen, noting that these fighters "have chosen the right and wise path." The Resistance is conducting actions that are "heroic, significant, and honourable," and will continue to do so.
