Jewish Voice for Peace Protest at New York Stock Exchange
Jewish Voice for Peace organized hundreds of pro-Palestine Jewish activists to stage a protest outside the New York Stock Exchange on Monday October 14 against U.S. support for Israel's genocide in Gaza.
More than 500 people joined in the action, wearing red shirts inscribed with the well-known watchword Not in Our Name, held up banners reading Jews Say Stop Arming Israel and Gaza Bombed, Wall Street Booms. Other slogans included Fund FEMA Not Genocide, in reference to the Federal Emergency Management Agency responsible for dealing with the aftermath of two recent devastating hurricanes that struck the southeastern U.S.
Jewish Voice for Peace wrote on social media: "The U.S. is not arming Israel to protect Jews. The U.S. is arming Israel for its own profit and control of the region. [President Joe] Biden wants us to believe that his $18 billion slush fund this year for the Israeli government is for 'Jewish safety.' As Jews, we reject this myth with every fiber of our beings. We refuse to let our traditions, histories, and identities be used to massacre Palestinians."
The New York Police Department arrested 206 people at the protest.
