Zionist Killers Attack Beirut Southern Suburb for 12th Consecutive Day
Air strikes on Beirut, Lebanon continue overnight October 4-5, 2024.
On October 4, for the 12th consecutive day, Israel continued its bloody war on Lebanon. At dawn on Friday, October 4, the Israeli occupation army launched the most violent bombing yet on the southern suburb of Beirut, amid news of a new assassination crime. Security sources told Reuters that the Israeli strike on the southern suburb of Beirut was larger than the one that killed Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, during which 83 bunker-buster bombs were launched. Al Jazeera Beirut bureau chief, Mazen Ibrahim, described the attack as the most powerful offensive in terms of its destructive force and the sounds of huge explosions that reached areas outside Beirut. Ibrahim added that the targeted area was a square in the Mareija area which is located in the heart of the southern suburb.
News agencies continue to report that the tanks and troops of the Zionist army are amassed at the border with Lebanon, preparing for a ground invasion. They are nonetheless thwarted by the fact that Hezbollah has 100,000 fighters ready to engage and wipe them out. Furthermore, the failure of the Zionists to wipe out Hamas and the large number of casualties the occupation forces have suffered is also a problem for their morale.
The U.S./Zionist occupation army's large-scale offensive on Lebanon since September 23, has so far resulted in the death of about 1,200 people and the injury of more than 3,000 others, in addition to the displacement of 1.2 million people inside Lebanon and to Syria.
Beirut has a population close to 2 million people and an urban population density of more than 3,500 individuals per square kilometre.
On September 23 alone at least 558 people, including 50 children and 94 women, were killed, and more than 1,800 injured by Israeli forces which are deliberately targeting civilians, ordering their evacuation from densely populated areas and declaring it is targeting terrorists.
Lebanese Health Minister Firas Alabiad announced on October 3 that the death toll from Israeli attacks on Lebanon since October 8 of last year has risen to 1,974, with another 9,384 injured. Alabiad said at a press conference in Beirut that the Israeli onslaught has also claimed the lives of 127 children. They have killed 40 staffers of medical and emergency teams, in addition to damaging dozens of health care facilities, he added.
