The lack of social housing, unsanitary conditions, inadequate or overpriced dwellings, abusive rent increases and discriminatory practices are commonplace in Quebec. The shortage of still-affordable units, the intensification of real estate speculation, the pandemic and climate change are rendering the situation downright dire; never before seen.
To force Quebec to listen to the distress of the poorly-housed and their glaring needs, on November 9 and 10, FRAPRU [Front d’action populaire en réaménagement urbain] is organizing a large virtual forum on the housing crises. This event is being organized by FRAPRU in collaboration with the National Right to Housing Network and the Centre for Equality Rights in Accommodation.
