Right now, tens of thousands of migrant student workers in low-wage jobs are facing deportation because of impossible immigration requirements. Millions of people lost work and wages during COVID-19, but for migrant student workers who are on time-restricted work permits, losing work means they cannot fulfill requirements to apply for permanent residency. Their work permits are non-renewable and time is running out. Unless Prime Minister Trudeau and Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino act quickly, thousands will be forced to leave Canada by the end of this year or become undocumented.

Migrants should not be punished for the pandemic! Ensure fair immigration rules to stop the deportation of thousands. Make work permits renewable and value all work!
