Eighth Anniversary of 9/11
Our Security Lies in our Fight for the Rights of All!
On the occasion of the 8th anniversary of 9/11, TML
expresses its deepest sympathies for the relatives of those who
lost their lives eight years ago as a result of the terrorist
attacks on September 11. We remember the millions who have been
killed in the so-called "war on terror" unleashed by the
administration of George W. Bush, with the help of the government
of Canada and other "allies" and express our deepest
sympathies to their families and peoples.
On this occasion, we also express our deepest
sympathies to the families of all those killed and
disappeared in the infamous coup which took place in
Chile on September 11, 1973, and to the Chilean people. Thirty six
years
later the U.S.
continues to organize and back violent coups d'etat as it did
recently in Honduras.
This is the first anniversary of 9/11 when George Bush
is
not President. But the promises to end the impunity carried out under
the aegis of the "war on
terror"
have been shown to be hollow. Far from it, the war
against the people of Afghanistan has been escalated targetting also
Pakistan, with continued justifications for indefinite detention,
renditions, torture, etc.
In Canada, the government continues to violate long held
precepts of international law as in its refusal to bring Omar Khadr
home
and its continued use of security certificates, secret evidence and
reliance on methods such as torture.
On this 8th anniversary of 9/11, TML salutes
the
working and oppressed peoples of all countries whose resistance
and concrete actions are building a pro-social anti-war reality
as they strive to affirm their dignity and rights. We send our
revolutionary greetings to all who are resisting brutal
interference and aggression, direct or indirect, of U.S.
imperialism and its allies such as Canada, for their right to be and to
forge their own path, independent of foreign tutelage. We condemn the
refusal of the Canadian government to uphold the rule of law and
its arrogant and dangerous claim that it stands above the law. We call
on Canadians to take up the work for democratic renewal to
establish an anti-war government.
