Comrade Bains, You Are the Red in Our Flag! Lal Salaam!
1939 – 1997
On August 24, on the poignant occasion of the 20th anniversary of the loss of our founder and leader Hardial Bains, a delegation of the Central Committee and the Party’s regional committee in the Outaouais paid our deepest respects to Comrade Bains and his leadership at CPC(M-L)’s Memorial Monument in Ottawa. This monument is dedicated to the life and work of Comrade Bains and to the contribution of many other comrades whose names have been engraved on it. This contribution embodies the Party’s spirit, the spirit of Marxism-Leninism and the political movement led by the Party in Canada on this basis. As inscribed on the monument: The Issue Is Not Wave the Red Flag But to Show Our Colours Through Our Deeds. Or, as the Party motto states, The Party’s Deed Is Its Word.
The names on this monument reveal the depth of the Party’s roots. You will find the names of veteran communists who were born before the Great October Revolution of 1917, who militated in the ranks of the old communist party and came forward to end the split in the International Communist and Workers’ Movement by joining CPC(M-L). You will find the names of worker politicians and workers of immigrant origin from the world over. You will find the names of men and women who were teachers, doctors, writers, artists, scientists and students as well as those of indigenous youth and of old and new Quebec families. They all contributed to the building of the Party, the defence of the interests of the working class and people and to the very spirit of Marxism-Leninism which this monument embodies.
On the sad occasion of the 20th anniversary of the untimely death of Comrade Bains, we pledge to work ever harder to make the Party’s deed its word and lead the working class and people to do what must be done to open society’s path to progress.
Comrade Bains, you are the red in our flag! Your deed lives on in us. Lal salaam!
Long live CPC(M-L)!
Communist Party of Canada (Marxist-Leninist)
